4.000-5.000 persons yearly die in Hungary because of liver cirrhosis. Higher part of liver cirrhosis is of alcohol origin, but the part of viral induced liver disease are also important in liver cirrhosis. Rate of liver disease from autoimmune origin is smaller. The author discusses the possibilities of the therapy in these diseases, and he underlines the liver transplantation as a real curative treatment in any forms of end stages of liver cirrhosis. The problems of financial support in liver transplantation are discussed.
